Recreation Funding

Eg. FCF Specialized Groups, Farm Visiting Program, Supportive Volunteering program

Canadian Tire Jumpstart http://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/en.html

Community-based charity that helps children in financial need participate in organized sports and recreational activities. (Does not include summer or day camps.)

  • Children between the ages of 4-18 years to a maximum of $300 per child.
  • A financial assessment including details about the desired choice of activity, may also be required.
  • Applications accepted starting Mid-January
  • Application needs to be made before the fees are due, as the money goes right to the organization
  • Funds can also be provided for adaptive equipment to help kids with special needs participate in recreation activity

Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy- Life Enriching Activity Fund http://www.ofcp.ca/programs/funding/leaf/

  • Individual members of OFCP who have cerebral palsy, and reside in Ontario.
  • Opportunity for members to access financial assistance to enrich, enhance or augment an activity the member currently participates in or is interested in.
  • Up to $500.00 for fees, supplies and/or equipment

  • Have had a clinical appointment with Holland Bloorview in the two years prior to the date on this application
  • Be under the age of 19
  • Application for support for recreation programming, Camp fees or Respite Program- Maximum of $500 per year

Children’s Respite Flexible Funding http://www.kerrysplace.org/Public/Childrens-Respite-funding

  • Children up to 18 years with an official diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (proof of diagnosis is required)
  • Must live in York Region, Simcoe County, Durham Region and Haliburton, Kawartha & Pine Ridge (HKPR)
  • Reimbursement based funding source to cover cost of respite worker, camp fees, social or recreational groups or specialized classes
  • Applications accepted beginning January 1, 2017.

Camp Specific Funding

Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD) http://www.children.gov.on.ca/htdocs/English/specialneeds/disabilities.aspx

ACSD funding is a monthly benefit paid to families with a child with a disability to assist with the extraordinary cost that families have, due to the disability.  If you are receiving ACSD and have specialized camp as an approved expense, you may use funds to pay for a camp geared specifically for children who have special needs.

Autism Ontario- 1-to-1 Summer Support Worker http://www.autismontario.com/camp

The 2016 One-to-One Summer Support Worker Reimbursement Fund is available to Ontario families of children or youth with ASD who retain the services of a one-to-one support worker for their child to attend a community summer camp or summer program. Maximum reimbursements of $600, per child or youth, (up to 18th birthday).

Reimbursements will be provided based on a random selection made from all eligible applicants who apply between May 2 and June 3, 2016.

Community Living Dufferin- Summer Inclusion Program http://www.communitylivingdufferin.ca/services/

  • Supports children (aged 4 to 14) with developmental disabilities to attend regular summer recreational programs offered in Dufferin County.
  • TWO weeks of 1:1 support at no cost to the family (weeks do not have to be consecutive)
  • Select a program and apply to Community Living Dufferin for the assistance of an inclusion counselor.
  • Offered on first come first served basis so apply with CLD as soon as possible
  • Only available for residents of Dufferin County

Tax Deductions

Children’s Arts Tax Credit http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/artscredit/

Children with disabilities (who are eligible for the disability tax credit) and is under 18 years of age at the beginning of the year, can claim a total of $1,000 if a minimum of $100 is paid for registration or membership fees for a prescribed artistic program.

Children’s Fitness Tax Credit http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/fitness/

Children with disabilities (who receive the Disability Tax Credit) age 18 and under are eligible for a total of up to a $1000 Fitness Tax Credit Claim each year for participation in (qualifying) recreation programs that promote health and fitness.
